Strange MusicThis is a category for composers and performers and improvisers who do not fit in (or even go near) categories. That is what we love most about new music.
by Guy Livingston
The Kraken, Sea Horse, Martichore, and other strange beasts enliven this tongue-in-cheek techno disc. This is a brilliant album, with complex contrapuntal layers that separate it from mere junk techno. Slow moving harmonics, with a fast beat and catchy refrains. An excerpt from the notes sums it up perfectly:
"Below the thunders of the upper deep,
far, far beneath the abysmal sea,
His ancient dreamless uninvaded sleep
The kraken sleepeth: faintest sunlights
fleeteth about his shadowy sides; above him swell
huge sponges of millemial growth and height...."
